I used headphones by Focal called Celestee, in-ear monitors by Periodic Audio called Carbon, and Sony MDR-7506 headphones that cost less than $100. Using the USB-C-to-Lightning adapter that comes with the iFi Go Bar and an iPhone. Certainly, it looks like it will get the best out of any cost-appropriate pairing equipment, whether it’s the source or the headphones to which this dongle is connected. The iFi GO bar may not have a lot of features, but the ones it does have are, for all intents and purposes, perfect. You can’t use it while it’s in the carrying case, so if you want to listen on the go, you’ll have to let the GO bar hang out of your pocket. The case has a belt loop on the back and enough space inside to hold both the DAC and one of the OTG cables. ![]() The GO bar also comes with a leather case that can hold the DAC and one of the OTG cables. Like other USB DACs, the GO bar can’t run through most standard USB-C cables, but it does come with all the OTG cables you need to use it with an Android, iPhone, or computer. Also, when you turn up or down the volume, the lights briefly light up to show a rough volume bar. On the front of the GO bar are 9 LEDs with printed labels that tell you things like the current bitrate, if you’re decoding MQA files, and if the XBass or XSpace are on. The GO bar, on the other hand, has a much simpler method. Some pocket DACs, like the FiiO BTR5, have a screen that shows the bitrate, the current volume, and whether or not MQA files are being decoded. Since IEMs can be very sensitive and the GO bar can put out a lot of power, your eardrums will thank you for using this setting. It can be set for the 4.4mm or 3.5mm jack, or it can be turned off. The IEMatch mode makes noise less noticeable and lowers the overall volume. The iFi Go is both a DAC and a headphone amp, so it can give you better sound in a small package. If the source is an iOS or Android device, you will also need a device to handle the conversion from digital to analog signals and boost the audio signal. Wireless Bluetooth headphones can’t do this yet. If you want to listen to the high-resolution audio files that Apple Music, Qobuz, or Tidal stream, you’ll need to use wired headphones with your streaming source. The company knows exactly how to take digital audio information from even unreliable sources and turn it into analog sound that sounds just like real life. At the time of writing, there are seven products on this list, and two of them are made by iFi. That’s a lot of money for something that doesn’t do much, and it puts the Go bar above some very well-respected alternatives from Astell & Kern, AudioQuest, and, let’s not forget, iFi. In the U.S., it costs $329, which is a bit more reasonable, but people in Australia will have to pay AU$479. September 23, 2016: Video added and recipe updated to include slightly more dates so the bars stick together more easily. The iFi Go bar is now on sale, and it costs a not-insignificant £329 in the UK. Chocolate Chip Almond Butter Granola Bars.Plus, they pack in plenty of healthy fats from the almonds and peanut butter, and lots of fiber from the oats. These really are the perfect bar for a hearty snack because they keep you full for hours and don’t provide a sugar overload. But by tomorrow it likely won’t be there, if I know myself at all. How I exercised the self control to save one quarter of a bar is beyond me. ![]() I made a batch last week and am already down to one-quarter of ONE bar. Simple flavors, wholesome ingredients, salty-sweet and lots of crunch. Speaking of delicious, these little guys are dreamy. ![]() And to keep them gluten-free, use GF oats. To keep these vegan, stick with maple syrup or agave instead of honey. If you can’t jive with peanut butter simply swap in almond, sunflower or another nut/seed butter. Just 5 ingredients, no baking involved (unless you want to toast the oats and almonds) and they’ll keep in the freezer for-ever (that is, if you can resist them for that long). ![]() Then we add almonds, oats, peanut butter, and maple syrup (or honey or agave) and mix it all together! The base for these bars is dates – the natural sweetener supah powah.
